She works in close partnership with each patient to define outcomes that feel right for them. Her approach is collaborative and highly individualised, offering the full spectrum of chest contouring - including masculinising surgery and tailored approaches for non
binary individuals, where careful planning and aesthetic judgement are essential.

Her practice is grounded in both technical precision and strong allyship. She has worked to normalise gender-affirming care within mainstream surgical practice, supporting colleagues to deliver inclusive, consistent care - ensuring patients feel understood, supported and confident throughout their journey. 

A collaborative leader in service development:

Kate has played a key role in growing the chest contouring service at Manchester University NHS Foundation Trust. She served as Clinical Director for Breast and Chest Contouring Services for five years, leading service development and expanding access to care. She has contributed to national guidance through the Association of Breast Surgery, authored a surgical textbook chapter for UK trainees, and is actively involved in regional and national multidisciplinary work, helping to bridge cancer pathways with trans and gender diverse care.

Qualifications & Training

Kate graduated from the University of Leeds in 2003 and completed higher surgical training in the North West. She was selected for a Training Interface Group (TIG) fellowship in Oncoplastic Breast Surgery, achieving the highest national ranking in selection. During this time, she developed highly transferable aesthetic and reconstructive skills, now applied with precision to chest contouring surgery.

She was awarded a research fellowship through the Royal College of Surgeons and has presented and published her work nationally and internationally, reflecting a continued commitment to evidence-based, evolving surgical care.
