What happens during a labiaplasty?
Consultation
For women, a Labiaplasty surgery can be a very nerve-wracking experience and therefore we recommend that during the consultation, you ask as many questions as possible to alleviate any worries. The session lasts 20-45 minutes meaning you have plenty of time to get all the knowledge you require after the surgeon has examined the area and discussed the results and concerns of the operation.
Pre-Operation
Labiaplasty is a straightforward procedure however naturally it can still cause some concern for women which we completely understand. Therefore to allay these fears, we like invite you to the surgery in the lead up to the operation for both a medical check-up to make sure you are in good health and capable of the surgery whilst also allowing you to get any worries off your chest.
Surgery
When you arrive at the hospital for your surgery you will be greeted by your nurse and surgeon and shown to your comfortable room with en-suite. They will inspect your health to make sure your fit and well for the operation and finally ask for a final consent form to be signed.
Once you are in the theatre you will be sedated with a local or general anaesthetic and the excess skin will be trimmed and reshaped before beginning to apply the absorbable sutures. Whilst it is natural to be worried, the operation is very simple and will only last one hour.
Post-Surgery
After the surgery, you will be asked to return to the clinic and see either a surgeon or nurse regularly over the next six weeks, usually at week 1, 2 and 6. This way you can have some reassurance that you are healing correctly and are recovering as normal.
Aftercare
At Pall Mall, we are extremely proud of every step of the journey we go on with you, including our aftercare. If you want to get in touch with us after your surgery you can contact one of our nurses 24/7 or you are welcome to attend further check-ups at our clinic.
